Domain B · reinforcement1 / 10

During independent math work, Marcus rips up his worksheet. Each time, his teacher sends him to the calm corner for three minutes. Over two weeks, ripping goes from twice a session to nine times.

What is the calm corner actually doing?

Pick one and see what makes this different.

Why we built this

Your question shows up at 11pm. Everything else is asleep.

The recorded lecture, the notes you paid for, the weekly study group: all of it helps, and none of it can answer you. Help runs on a schedule. Getting stuck doesn't.

The recording

You can rewind it as many times as you like. You can't ask it anything. It plays at exactly the same speed whether the concept landed or slid straight past you.

Questions answered: none

The notes you bought

They say it once, in one phrasing. If that phrasing isn't the one that clicks for your brain, there is no second explanation coming, no matter what you paid.

Follow-ups: not supported

Thursday's group session

Genuinely good, and genuinely short. Forty-five minutes, everyone arrives with a question, and yours is the one that doesn't make it to the front of the room.

11:47 PMok i still don't get why the calm corner is negative reinforcement
Look at what changed for Marcus, not at what the teacher did. The worksheet went away and the ripping went up. Removal + increase = negative reinforcement. Her intent isn't part of the definition anywhere.
11:49 PMbut she was trying to punish him
Right, and that's exactly the trap the exam sets. Punishment is defined by the behavior going down. His went from 2 to 9. Whatever she meant to do, the contingency reinforced it.
11:51 PMok give me one to check i actually have it
Deal. A child whines, the parent hands over the tablet, whining doubles by Friday. Two questions: whose behavior are we labelling, and did something get added or taken away?

Ask it the same thing five different ways at midnight. Nobody's waiting on you, and nobody's watching you take up the room's time.

Lecture + group sessionscheduled help
Your tutorone-on-one, no queue

168 hours in a week. Two of them are scheduled, and you share those two with everyone else who showed up.

Your study crew

Three AIs, one job: no surprises on test day.

Not a chatbot bolted onto a question bank. Each one is wired into what you've actually answered, so the help lands where you're stuck.

The tutor

Highlight the sentence that won't click and just ask. 6am or 1am, as many times as it takes. It already knows which lesson you're in and which question you just blew.

“Wait, why is that negative reinforcement and not punishment?”

The coach

Every morning it reads yesterday's answers and tells you the one thing to fix today, in a sentence, not a bar chart.

“You're not weak on Domain B. You're weak on one move inside it.”

The drill instructor

It builds twelve questions out of your own mistakes, pulled from every corner of the outline where that mistake likes to hide.

“Removal vs. addition. 12 questions. 6 minutes. Go.”

Every morning

Something's been reading your answers while you slept.

You already know Measurement is shaky. What you don't know is the particular way it's shaky, and that's the four points sitting between you and a pass.

The coach doesn't hand you a percentage. It hands you a sentence you can act on before your coffee's cold.

Study coachExample note

You're not weak on Domain B. You're weak on one move inside it.

When the consequence is a removal, you label it by what the adult did instead of what the behavior did. That one move is 9 of your last 12 misses. In Monday's mock you flagged two items on it, changed both, and changed both the wrong way.

Yes, we turned the content outline into actual songs.

Because you're going to be in the car for forty minutes anyway, and something about a chorus makes schedules of reinforcement stick when flashcards won't.

A low-poly island at night: a character roasting a marshmallow at a campfire beside a tent, a pink sakura, a lit house with lanterns, a dog and a cat, under a last-quarter moon.

Also inside · ABA Island

Every hour you log grows an island.

ABA Island turns your fieldwork record into a tiny living world. Each logged hour is a token; the island grows with your total; milestones bring residents. The sky keeps your clock, moon phases included. Pitch a tent, light the lanterns at dusk, roast a marshmallow, fish the pond, and watch the dog chase the cat up the sakura.

  • Grows with every hour you log, free
  • Your sky, your clock: dusk, night, real moon phases
  • Residents at 250, 500 hours and on
  • Pets that say hello when you walk up
  • Core adds the Nursery: spend hour-tokens on pets, lights & homes, then arrange them
  • Study rewards you can’t buy: a streak, a mock exam, a readiness score each earn a piece

No grinding. Tokens come only from hours you actually log, so the world is a record of the work, not a second job. More worlds are on the way.
